Conquests of the Sahabah (Futuhush Sham) is a comprehensive two-volume English translation of the historical work attributed to Imam Muhammad ibn Umar al-Waqidi, presenting detailed narratives of the early Muslim conquests and the remarkable sacrifices of the Sahabah رضي الله عنهم. Translated by Mawlana Sulayman Al-Kindi, the work brings together accounts of important campaigns and events from the early period of Islamic history. The first volume focuses primarily on the conquests of Ash-Sham (Greater Syria), covering the campaigns and events associated with Damascus, Hims, Yarmuk, Baytul Muqaddas and Antioch. The second volume extends the historical narrative to other regions, including the conquest of Egypt and Alexandria, Kurdistan and Armenia, Mesopotamia (Iraq), and Upper Egypt. The accounts describe battles, military campaigns, strategies and the contributions of prominent Sahabah رضي الله عنهم. Among the personalities and events highlighted are the military leadership and strategies of Khalid ibn al-Walid رضي الله عنه, the devotion and leadership of Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah رضي الله عنه, and the bravery of Dirar al-Kindi رضي الله عنه. The work also contains accounts involving other personalities connected with these major historical events. Rather than presenting Islamic history merely as a sequence of dates and battles, the work provides narratives intended to bring the sacrifices, courage, devotion and perseverance of the early Muslims to life. It offers readers an opportunity to explore the struggles through which the foundations of the Muslim community were established across different regions.
